The map shows dog intake volume by county for New York State in the past 36 months. While Monroe County had the highest number of intakes (1,756), Lollypop Farm receives animals from more than 50% of all the counties in New York State.
A new tool available at RocHealthData allows mapping of tract-level participation rates from the current census, either for our local region or for any location in the U.S. Data as of July 10th show many rural and urban tracts in our area have comparatively low participation rates.

County-level control rates for men in the region are quite variable, ranging from 58.0% to 80.6%.
Data from the Rochester Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) show that the obesity rate in our region is 41.9%, higher than the national average (39.8%) reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Within our region the percentage of patients who say they currently smoke is 22% of the population, higher than the most recent national average (14%) reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
This month’s feature highlights the work of local community partner Foodlink, the Feeding America food bank serving 10 counties. In fiscal year 2017, Foodlink distributed more than 17 million pounds of food throughout the region.
