As the temperatures continue to rise this summer, consider cooling off at a local spray park. There are a number of locations in the Rochester area, and most are free. The Democrat and Chronicle recently shared a list of popular spray parks in Monroe County. These have been mapped at RocHealthData’s map room.
While in the map room, you will also find data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network showing the average number of extreme heat days in our region between 2019 and 2021. The CDC offers tips for how to protect yourself from illness in extreme heat, such as having access to air conditioning or cooling centers, staying hydrated by drinking water and avoiding unnecessary sun exposure.
