Although the Finger Lakes Region is known for its wine trails, it is also home to a robust “cheese trail” that features a variety of artisanal and farmstead cheeses. The Finger Lakes Cheese Alliance is made up of 12 working family farms and producers, each creating their own brand of cheeses. Click on the interactive map below to find the names and locations of these cheese purveyors.
If you are surprised by all the options for cheese tastings, it is worth noting the large number of dairy cattle operations in our region. In the map below, dark yellow shading denotes counties that have between 140 and 529 dairy cattle operations. According to the US Department of Agriculture’s 2012 Census, Seneca County is home to 154 operations, Steuben has 255 and Yates County has 337 cattle farms or ranches.
