October is Arts and Humanities Month

Celebrated since 1985, Arts and Humanities Month has encouraged participation in the arts as a means to foster creativity and wellness, as well as to connect with the community.
The National Assembly of State Arts Agencies champions the arts as essential ingredients for well-being and prosperity.  Several research studies have direct links between engagement with the creative arts and health outcomes.
Within the University of Rochester, Eastman Performing Arts Medicine (EPAM) integrates music into the healthcare environment, holding public performances in hospital public areas.  You can find more information about EPAM, as well as their upcoming concerts here.
Celebrate the arts and humanities this month – attend a show, hear a concert, visit a museum, or create your own art works.  Visit the RocHealthData map room to see the many regional resources to help you celebrate, as well as discover how many people, by county, are employed in these areas.
