Since 1970, theAmerican Red Crosshas encouraged blood donations during January because winter is traditionally a difficult time to collect sufficient blood to meet patients’ needs. Inclement weather can cancel blood drives and seasonal illnesses, such as flu, can force donors to forgo their blood donations.
Our area will have many blood donor drives during January, including several opportunitieswithin UR Medicines’s Strong Memorial Hospital. However, most of these drives are not associated with a hospital or medical facility. Visit the RocHealthData map roomto see the locations, dates, and times of the many upcoming blood drives across our region.
