April is National Humor Month: Laughter is good for you

Happy April, literally.  The Mayo Clinic notes the many health benefits of laughter.  These include stress reduction and an improved immune system, as well as increased mental health.

This month, RocHealthData highlights local laughter destinations: comedy and improv clubs, joke shops, locations sponsoring open-mic comedy, and laughter yoga sessions.  Visit the RocHealthData map room to see how all these venues might be impacting our collective mental health in Monroe County.
Find more on the relationship between humor and health, see this meta-analysis on humor styles, or a large longitudinal study on the health benefits of a sense of humor.
