April 22 is Earth Day

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. While many traditional celebrations have been altered or rescheduled due to social distancing protocols, the University’s issue of The Compost: Your Green Reps’ Newsletter highlights some of the creative ways Earth Day is still being observed.
Recognizing that the Rochester region is a part of a larger community, this post features data for the entire contiguous United States. Data about our country’s physical environment from County Health Rankings show the variability in air and water quality, as well as indicators of housing and transit, that may impact our collective health and well-being.

 

Also shown in the map are county-level data about endangered species from the Environmental Conservation Online System and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
